Wilco releases its eighth studio album, “The Whole Love,” Sept. 27, the Chicago rock band announced this afternoon. The band will release the album on dBpm, the Easthampton, Mass., record label that Wilco founded earlier this year.
The 12-song album, the band’s first since 2009′s “Wilco (The Album),” features 12 new songs recorded in the band’s Chicago studio.
Wilco sprinkled a handful of the new songs into a pair of performances last weekend at the band’s own Solid Sound Festival at Mass MoCA in North Adams, Mass. (), including new single “I Might,” the guitar-soaked rockers “Born Alone” and “Standing O,” and the chugging pop song “Dawned on Me.”
Wilco also performed a cover of “I Love My Label” by Nick Lowe, who opens for the group on a brief fall tour that begins Sept. 13 in Indianapolis and wraps up Oct. 5 in Madison, Wis. The closest stops to Connecticut come Sept. 20 at the Wang Theatre in Boston and Sept. 22 on the Central Park Summerstage in New York.
