Justin Bieber may pack arenas worldwide but he was a bust as the February Vanity Fair cover boy.

The 17-year-old pop star’s debut on the front of the glossy was the worst-selling issue in more than a decade, Women’s Wear Daily reports.

The cover, featuring Bieber with lipstick smudged on his neck and shirt, sold 246,000 copies – the lowest total since Will Smith was on the cover to promote his 1999 film Wild, Wild West.

“Who knew 12-year-olds didn’t buy magazines?” a Vanity Fair spokeswoman said.

It was not the first time a Bieber cover did poorly, the report said. An October 2010 Teen Vogue with him on the front sold approximately 12 percent fewer copies than the magazine’s average.
