Bruno Mars, who will play a show at Allentown Fair on Aug. 30, has just set the record for the debut song that has stayed No. 1 on Billboard magazine’s Adult Contemporary chart the longest.
Mars “Just the Way You Are” will be No. 1 this week for the 20th week — the longest run in the chart’s nearly 50-year history, Billboard reports.
That surpasses debut runs for Colbie Caillats “Bubbly” in 2008 and Daniel Powters “Bad Day” in 2006, both of which were No. 1 for 19 weeks.
Billboard notes that while “Just the Way You Are” was Marss debut as a lead artist on the Adult Contemporary chart, he charted prior to that on Billboard Hot 100 chart as a featured vocalist on B.o.Bs “Nothin on You” (No. 1, two weeks) and Travie McCoys “Billionaire” (No. 4) last year), Billboard says.
The song also spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100. His more recent song “Grenade” is at No. 11 on the same chart, after it spent four weeks atop the Hot 100, and his latest single, “The Lazy Song,” also is on the Adult Contemporary chart, at No. 30.
By the way, the group that Calliat and Powter topped for the previous record was “Heaven” by Los Lonely Boys, which topped the chart for 18 weeks 2004-05.
Los Lonely Boys will play the Musikfest Café at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks on June 20.
Tickets for Mars’s Allentown Fair show — even on the track closest to the stage — are still available at $29, $49 and $52 at or by calling the fair box office at 610-433-7541.
A dwindling number of tickets for Los Lonely Boys’ show also still are available at $35 and $45 at or 610-332-1300.
